This afternoon, Kanye West pronounced today the 'WEST DAY EVER' ( #WESTDAYEVER ) after releasing a series of announcements in one tweet. Out of these was the announcement of the collaboration between West and Nigerian Designer Mowalola Ogunlesi.
This whole week has been explosive for the young 26-year-old designer. Earlier this week, Kim Kardashian West posted a celebratory fathers day where the whole West family was decked out in Mowalola. Also on twitter, she released nude images of her friends sporting her bag that coincidentally – or not – drops today as well on her newly launched website.
While Ye was giving his announcements on Twitter, Mowa publicized her new position on Instagram 'Design Director of Yeezy Gap', putting the globe in a frenzy.
Mowalola, known for her acidic leather collections, deep cuts, and the unforgettable hyper-realistic bullet wound outfits, has been THE one to watch. Selling sex and freedom to be has inspired so many young designers from not just Africa but the world to expand their lines beyond the clothing.
Starting from the Fashion East to the backs of Naomi Campbell, Drake, Jorjah Smith, and now a collaboration with Kanye, we know it can only be up from here for the young designer, and we are fully here for the ride.
