Remember Shudu? The digital fashion model that took the modelling industry by storm?
Fashion is so versatile these days, in fact, for the past decade, fashion has moved from one stop to the next and next next and we are here for it!
What’s even more amazing is the gradual flow from physical runways to models strutting in virtual reality. A new digital era, and with the quarantine still going on, it seems like digital fashion is coming into the limelight a little more. Some say it may be more than just a pandemic necessity.
Our thoughts, with a pinch of salt and pepper.
It’s a disruptor, and we love it!

A disruptor according to the fashion zeitgeist lexicon is a term used in the fashion industry to
describe a brand or person who is constantly shifting boundaries and bringing up nonconformist
methods that usually end up changing the fashion landscape. Digital fashion is the kind of positive change that the fashion world needs, as it is in itself a way of expression, a way of life.
Why should we express ourselves one way or say “hey, this is the way to live life?”
Digital Fashion shows are easier to prepare for

One of the biggest perks of not having to do a runway show in person is the avoidance of the
bother of seating who next who. Not really, it’s more about the endless hours spent perfecting sets and ensuring the lighting is perfect for each dress. In truth, sometimes the sets tend to distract the audience from the actual models. With digital fashion shows or virtual models, the real work goes into post production, more time for editors to create magic.
More room for creativity, fashion outside of the box.

With the absence of brick walls and blinding hot lights, designers and creators have more room to bring their individual aesthetics to the view. Each set is unique, each background is chosen with a picture in mind, the space is filled by what the designer wants instead of what it is “supposed” to be, a boundless atmosphere where ingenuity can thrive. Yes!
It’s where the world is headed anyway

With Artificial Intelligence and self-charging cars, 3D modelling is one of the more advanced
effects that the digital environment has on us. Fashion in some ways seeks to tell us stories of
people we never knew, things we never wore, and places we’ve never been to. The new era of
fashion runways is bringing with it unique ways of telling stories, stories that don’t have to be seen in person to be believed. So you’re there, but not really at the same time. Confusing, but we can get used to it.
The Verdict?

With fashion, experimenting new forms of expression is what has always led to growth. But is it
always the right form of expression? Trick question, there’s no such thing as wrong or right
expression when it comes to the industry. We say yes to the new era of digital runways and virtual models, it’s fresh. But the traditional methods are up close and personal, you can smell the couture, its present. What do you think?
