Music and COVID-19, definitely two words that don’t look good together, but trust our favourite
artists to turn it into a party in your parlour.
All over the world, artists came together to organise quarantine themed shows and studio sessions via Instagram and other social media platforms. In isolation, music has become a more important life line than usual.
These performances made sure we had enough oxygen. Before you say it, I know by now we’re tired of hearing this COVID-19, no fear, we made this one a sweet read.
Stay indoors and enjoy yourself
Music has been a great source of entertainment for those in self-quarantine. It has also been an
opportunity for artists to push out new music to make sure fans always have a steady supply
of…oxygen.
With the #TogetherAtHome hashtag trending on Twitter and Instagram, artists like, John Legend, Elton John, Billie Eilish jamming out on a concert hosted by iHeartRadio. At this end, Idris Elba came together with Davido and Burna Boy to be giving us steady beats back to back on the May 25 th Africa Day Benefit concert. At home.
Social Media has become to price tag of music concerts
For this period and maybe afterwards, social media is the number one platform to consider the
value of concerts and new hits. With the one off option of an Instagram live video, artists are
utilising the platform to grow their fan base and expand their reach from one end of the globe to the other, launching new projects along the way.
An Interactive Fan Base:
Artists during this period also took the time to get to know some of their fans more. They equally
got into their comfort zones and let fans see a glimpse into their lives, recording sessions, singing warm ups and rehearsals.
A number of artists also took the time to sample some of their songs to get a first impression from the fans. Something wild?, artists were also seen involving fans in games and tournaments for cash. Mad o
Singing for a Social Cause:
The international advocacy organisation Global Citizen brought a number of important artists
together for the One World: Together At Home global broadcast special, held in support of the
global response to the COVID-19 pandemic being led by the World Health Organization.
The concert had over forty performance and was hosted by Jimmy Fallon of ‘The Tonight Show,’ Jimmy Kimmel of ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ and Stephen Colbert of ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,’ Friends from Sesame Street. A tribute to support the health workers on the front lines.
The concert raised millions to help fight the deadly COVID-19 virus. We love to see it!
The down side?
A number of concerts have been regrettably cancelled due to the virus. Artists need the lockdown the end just as much as we do. Stay strong guys!
