ART: AN ESSENTIAL NEED- ART AND ABOUT SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDES EMERGENCY GRANTS FOR ARTISTS.

In an effort to provide much needed support for African artists on the continent during the current COVID-19 pandemic, @artandaboutafrica initiated the #ArtAnEssentialNeed campaign. ⁠

Art and About Africa published an ebook with contributions from artists across the continent including @ckabiru and @goncalomabunda, which was sold via their crowdfunding initiative. 100% of proceeds from the sales of the ebook amounted to a total of USD 15,523.35 which will be distributed to equally within the 31 participating artists.

Through numerous fruitful collaborations with supporters and media partners, as well as the extraordinary involvement of the global community, the team has been able to promote the artists taking part in the ArtEN initiative on a global scale.

The crowdfunding campaign to support artists in Africa is now closed. However, the Art and About team intends to carry on with Art: an essential need as an ongoing project to keep supporting artists all year round by creating awareness on the essential role of art in our lives.
